Good point. I actually use only fluxbox, which you can compile in just a few
minutes. I find I no longer have any need for Gnome or KDE. Both are good
environments, but they are bloated beyond belief and have a lot of potential
problems such as this, as well as other things like auto mounting and
whatnot.

You can place fluxbox on your system and go back and forth with KDE or Gnome
if you choose.
