[PlanetCCRMA] Planet newbie EMI 2|6 usb audio cluelessness

Hi All-

I've had a look in the archives at the many usb audio posts, but cannot 
get my emi 2|6 working with my dell inspiron 5100 laptop. I'm hoping
someone here can get me pointed in the right direction. 

I'm running rh9 with the enhanced redhat planet kernel 2.4.20-28.1. Alsa
is working for my built-in motherboard sound and (following Fernando's
helpful how-to) I got my usb midiman 2X2 up & running pretty quickly.
Which leaves the 2|6... 

I followed the directions on setting up usb sound cards- added
"usb-midi" and "audio" to my hotplug/blacklist and "snd-usb-audio", etc
to my modules.conf. "snd-usb-audio" loads OK when i start alsa and the
2|6 lights up when i plug it in, but "snd-usb-audio" remains unused.

I noticed a firmware loader in drivers/usb/ called emi26.c so I thought
support for this particular interface would be compiled directly into
the kernel but modprobe can't find it.

The details for my setup are below- hoping someone can give me a hand.

here's what i see in log/messages when i plug it in:

hub.c: new USB device 00:1d.0-1, assigned address 3
usb.c: USB device 3 (vend/prod 0x86a/0x100) is not claimed by any active
driver.
/etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB product 86a/100/1



the 2|6 does show up in lsusb
