It might be possible to hook this into the mechanism that Gnome and KDE
use to make the "start" menus. We could define specific directories in
that path list that are used for jack apps, and set a/some jack specific
variables in thier .desktop files to say how to start them (what options
have what jack semantics and so on).

E.g. meterbirdge only runs if started with some arguments, and it would be
nive to be able to to pick a bunch of jack ports, then start meterbrdige
and have it autoconnect.
