[PlanetCCRMA] pd and pitchbend

I don't seem to get any pitchbend messages out of bendout in pd.  If I go 
into Media->Testtone and check MIDI OUT I hear a series of tones on my 
DX7.  If I move the pitch bend wheel while the tones are being received, 
the pitch varies.  If I now go into help-midi.pd and change the input to 
the bendout, the pitch does not vary.

Any ideas?
