[PlanetCCRMA] MIDI problems - do I want to use setserial?

Hi,

I have a serial midi interface which works fine apart from bulk sysex data.
None of the midi applications seem to handle it properly so synth configs
tend to get lost!

It seems the data is coming into the computer ok as I get repeatable results
from
hexdump /dev/midi01

But sending these back to the relevant synth overloads it ("buffer full"
errors on the synth), probably it's all getting sent too fast.

can this be resolved with setserial?
if so, should I apply it to /dev/midi01 or the actual serial port in use,
 /dev/ttyS0 ?

(Also... I get lots of jack xruns. I think the hard disks are tuned
correctly and the oss drivers are unloaded. I've put the buffer size up to
3. Sound card is an SBLive. Any more ideas would be great!)

Thanks in advance,
