Timo,
Hi. Sorry for the problems. It appears, and it is certainly
embarrassing, that I was completely wrong about getting any of this to
work on wine-20041019. I was sure I had, but I currently have no less
than 11 versions of wine on my system and I think that my report is
just plain wrong.

That said, do not give up. I was researching where the change
happened that caused this segfault. (You're results above are
identical to mine.) wine-20040505 works. wine-20040615 fails with the
segfault. Reading the ANNOUNCE file for 20040615 I found this note:

WHAT'S NEW with Wine-20040615: (see ChangeLog for details)
        - Major winedbg rewrite using the dbghelp dll.
        - New Wine preloader to reserve memory areas at startup.
        - Many improvements to the audio support.
        - Lots of bug fixes.

Improvements to audio support? Seems like a clue...

Last evening I downloaded wine-20040505 from CVS and updated it to
20040525. That fails with the segfault. I'm going to build some more
versions today until I get down to what day caused this problem and
see what I Can find out from that.

It's tough not being a programmer in the Linux world, but I hope that
my efforts will get this figured out quickly.

Again, sorry for the confusion my overburdened wine environment might
have caused you and others. I'll work hard to clean it up and get us
some good info soon.

Cheers,
Mark
