I have a fresh FC4 (reinstalled too many times because of problems
with UTF-8, still unsolved). I tried to follow the instructions
closely but I must have done something wrong because others have this
working. Here is what happens:

# apt-get install planetccrma-core-edge

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  planetccrma-core-edge: Depends: alsa-utils (=
1.0.9rfa-1.rhfc4.ccrma) but 1.0.10-1.FC4 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

I even tried to remove the alsa-utils:

# rpm -e --nodeps alsa-utils

# apt-get install planetccrma-core-edge

You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  planetccrma-core-edge: Depends:
kernel-2.6.13-0.3.rdt.rhfc4.ccrma-i686
                         Depends:
kernel-module-alsa-2.6.13-0.3.rdt.rhfc4.ccrma-i686 (=
1.0.9b-1.rhfc4.ccrma)
                         Depends: alsa-driver (= 1.0.9b-1.rhfc4.ccrma)
but it is not going to be installed
                         Depends: alsa-lib (>= 1.0.9rf-1.rhfc4.ccrma)
but 1.0.9rc4-2 is to be installed
                         Depends: alsa-lib-devel (>=
1.0.9rf-1.rhfc4.ccrma) but 1.0.9rc4-2 is to be installed
                         Depends: alsa-utils (=
1.0.9rfa-1.rhfc4.ccrma) but it is not going to be installed
                         Depends: alsa-tools (= 1.0.9-1.rhfc4.ccrma)
but it is not going to be installed
                         Depends: alsa-firmware (=
1.0.9-1.rhfc4.ccrma) but it is not going to be installed
                         Depends: alsa-oss (= 1.0.9-1.rhfc4.ccrma) but
it is not going to be installed
Depends: rtirq (>= 20050620) but it is not
going to be installed
Depends: pam (>= 0.79-9.1.1) but 0.79-8 is to
be installed
system-config-soundcard: Depends: alsa-utils but it is not going to
be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or
specify a solution).

and now reinstalling alsa-utils fails too:

# apt-get install alsa-utils
