Thanks Fernando, I got it working with cdrecord and this command:

cdrecord -v dev=ATA:1,0,0    driveropts=burnfree -dao FC4-i386-DVD.iso

I still don't know what was wrong with the other apps, but at least I've got the FC4 dvd burned.

Fedora kernel or one of its upgrades, just to test this.
