You might. On my Gentoo machine I set it up from portage this morning.
(Can't make my FC4 Planet machine work well yet!) Anyway, I load

realtime gid=408 any

where 408 is a hand created group called realtime where I am the only
member. I'm able to run Muse and Jack via QjackCtl today with no
problems.
