[PlanetCCRMA] SMP Kernels and HT

Hi,

For some reason I have not being able to use SMP kernels with my 
PIV2.8HT processor. The system freezes always at the moment is starting 
to draw the desktop in Gnome (I just get the wallpaper displayed and.. 
thats it!). I remember having the same problem with FC2. With Ubuntu I 
got it working perfectly after the install until a system update I 
downloaded (don't know what) made it suffer of the same problem 
(freezing at Gnome startup). Any one has an idea of what could be going on?
