Brian,
   Sure - I understand, but without some hard data on what sort of
problems it is quite hard to make a constructive suggestion.

   If you are using QJackCtl then open the message window and watch
for xruns when you get the pops. If you see a correlation then we'll
look deeper.

   BTW - with APIC interrupts such as you are using right now you
cannot tune the interrupts. With some of the Planet kernels you can
modify whether they are threaded or not which can have a bit impact
but let's not go there unless needed.

   you may also be able to disable APIC usage at the kernel command
line with some (herein made-up) command like APIC=off. We'd have to
look around for info on exactly how to do that, but again why bother
if we're not sure of any real problem yet.
