Thanks for the tip, Fernando.  Works great.  If I had just used jackd like I 
had been doing all along, I would not have even know that jackstart doesn't 
work.

Can you can explain why there is even a "jackstart" command if it is doing 
the same thing as "jackd -R"?

Thanks again for your help and for the great Planet CCRMA site/apps.  It's 
been a lifesaver for me the last year.
