No, If somethign like this is happeneing, it's before grub could do
much of anything, I think.

grub does put up a splash screen with the (presumably) Fedora logo.
This is where you choose your kernel to boot. However there are two
grub stages before this happens. (1 & 1.5) I find it difficult to
imagine that grub could have anything to do with what you are seeing.
Sounds like an Asus BIOS issue. (Or feature!) ;-)
