Thanks,

I have tried that.

Here are some outputs, but even with this, muse/rosegarden give same error

$  cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [M1010LT        ]: ICE1712 - M Audio Delta 1010LT
                     M Audio Delta 1010LT at 0xb800, irq 19
1 [VirMIDI        ]: VirMIDI - VirMIDI
                     Virtual MIDI Card 1

$  cat /proc/modules | egrep -i "midi|401"
snd_virmidi 4544 8 - Live 0xe0b19000
snd_seq_virmidi 8320 10 snd_virmidi, Live 0xe0b15000

snd_seq_device 9612 4 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq,snd_rawmidi,

snd 69636 29 snd_virmidi,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event,snd_seq,snd_ice1712,snd_ice17xx_ak4xxx,snd_ak4xxx_adda,snd_cs8427,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_i2c,snd_mpu401_uart,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device,
Live 0xe084a000

... what ELSE is there to look at that I MUST be missing?
Who would know about these things? -- at a lower level ?

Thanks,
david
