hi fernando, thanks for replying.

apparently my gtkmm is already the latest version! here is the output when i
check--

[root@bogart ~]# apt-get install gtkmm24
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
gtkmm24 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 removed and 0 not upgraded.
[root@bogart ~]# rpm -qa | grep gtkmm
gtkmm24-2.6.9-2.fc4

does this tell you anything?
