Edit /etc/modprobe.conf (carefully) and make sure there are no extra
spaces at the end of the "options" lines. If there are any just erase
them, save the file and do a "/sbin/depmod -a". Then try to restart
sound, it should work now ("/etc/rc.d/init.d/alsasound restart")
