[PlanetCCRMA] Jack and Intel 82801g Audio - Possible Solution for us

I ran across a useful description of the different module parameters and what they mean for a long list of soundcards/chips, including the hda-intel module.  The 'model=3stack' parameter is for the hda-intel configuration of '3-jack in back and a headphone out'.  If yours has a different configuration (spdif, different number of jacks, etc), then there might be a more appropriate value for that parameter.

(I think that text file is actually part of the alsa documentation, under /usr/share/doc or /usr/src or some such).

I found this link and tried the following fix and its working for me 
atm. I'm not having ANY xruns. Hoping this might help someone else.

Solution:

I added " position_fix=1 model=3stack " to my option hda-intel line in 
my /etc/modprobe.conf

original:
options snd-hda-intel index=0

"fix":
options snd-hda-intel index=0 position_fix=1model=3stack
