hallo
this is a messsage i ve sent to the ubuntu studio ML but i thought i could
seek for help here as well:

-jack on Ubuntu doesn t come with MIDI support
-to get MIDI support you need to compile from source, i did it before on
another machine and it worked
-now i got a new laptop and when i try to compile it i get this:

io at lifebook:~/Desktop/jack-rack-1.4.6$ ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes

checking whether we are using the GNU C compiler... yes
checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes
checking for gcc option to accept ANSI C... none needed
checking for style of include used by make... GNU

checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for JACK... configure: error: you need jack >= 0.50.0 see
http://sf.net/projects/jackit

-how is it possible that it asks for jack >= 0.50.0 when the latest stable
release is 1.4.6 ?
