Thanks for the feedback...

The most (probably) I can do at this time about the kernel is to see if
I can integrate the rt patches into the latest 2.6.24.7* package coming
from fc8. Maybe that will fix your power management issues... or not. 

I just tried to start yet again the rt merge from the latest update
kernel for fc9. The rt3 set of patches I have been using so far do not
patch cleanly and at first sight it is not obvious how to fix them. Then
I tried the rt7 patch for 2.6.24.7 and too many chunks fail (not
impossible to fix, probably, but I'll wait till somebody else does
that). 

So we'll have to collectively wait for the rt patch set to make it to
2.6.25 land...
