It sounds like you are looking for pduino.

The Arduino controllers are cheap and use the Amtel processors:
     http://www.arduino.cc/
Pure Data objects and Arduino firmware is open source:
     http://at.or.at/hans/pd/objects.html#pduino
with examples available.
