Forgive me if you've already done this (&I'm only guessing a bit.)
Perhaps counter-intuitive, but try reducing the periods to 3 & try
some other frame rates, like 256. Well, you can leave it at 512 first
if that works. Different period/frame settings can sometimes clear up
the clicks & dropouts (if I'm not all wrong :)
