Just a matter of taste, but it has nothing to do with installing 
PlanetCCRMA.

Nothing is stopping you to start with the KDE version of Fedora, or 
install both KDE and GNOME before installing PlanetCCRMA.

I myself use the lightweight LXDE desktop with Fedora 13 and PlanetCCRMA.
