[PlanetCCRMA] fedora 15, some packages available

Perhaps it's time to switch from gedit to emacs.  The instructions for 
emacs and supercollider on ccrma say: "So, start emacs and add this line 
to the end of your emacs configuration file ~/.emacs."  On my Fedora 14 
system, I don't have ~/.emacs, just ~/.emacs.d.  What to do?
