To make it truly like a laptop in a "stage" situation -- so it survives the power going out or circuit breakers - or audience - tripping -- get a UPS. You could even take the money you save on the laptop and invest in solid-state drives for better performance and less chance of disks dying due to shock from transport.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Of course, since this is Linux, there's no reason why you couldn't use your current underpowererd laptop as a X server "on stage" for remote display of whatever applications are actually running on the "lanbox" -- which could be located right next to the mixing console -- assuming you could string cat-5 from the mixing console to stage... </div>

Plus it would just look very kraftwerk-like compared to a slick-looking, overpriced, underperforming laptop.</div>
