This may be off topic, as <i>rpm -qi </i>shows timidity now provided

by fedora rather than planetccrma, but the latest set of changes coming

from the fedora camp seem to have rendered timidity useless for any

serious musical work. The samples now have all the appeal of a bad

harmonica played by a heavy smoker with one lung. The normal decay of a

sustained piano sound fades into an annoying buzz that is more

prominent than the piano's natural voice.<br>

These effects are somewhat abated by substituting the old soundfonts

for those that are newly supplied with this release-- but they are

still audible.<br>
