First, please post the output of lsmod and the contents of your
modules.conf file. We should check that you are trying loading all the
right drivers, and that they got loaded.

Also, assuming that this will actually be OK, look at

cat /proc/asound/card0/midi0

(adjust card0 and midi0 as required.)
