[PlanetCCRMA] Usb midi problem

Has anyone had success with USB-MIDI recently? I tried to
follow the instructions in
http://ccrma-www.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/usbmidi.html,
and everything seemed ok except that the instructions for
/etc/modules.conf say use "snd_card_limit=3" whereas it appears
that the correct parameter name is "cards_limit=3" -- at least
that fixes a warning message when I start alsa.

When I do "tail -f /var/log/messages" and plug in a midisport 2x2
USB interface, I get the following:

Jan 5 10:55:59 prez kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus2/2,
assigned device number 2
Jan 5 10:55:59 prez kernel: usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod
0x763/0x1001) is not claimed by any active driver.
Jan 5 10:56:02 prez /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB
product 763/1001/1

Maybe there are different versions of the midisport 2x2?

I'm using the PlanetCCRMA 2.4.19-1.11 kernel and RedHat 8.0

Thanks,
Roger
