Thanks for the quick reply and good idea.  I'm using the Caselogic 
(Morex Cubid in the UK) 2699R case and power supply, 50W I think.  (I've 
posted some photos at http://www.ai.sri.com/ajh/audio/hd-recorder-project/)

I suspect, however, that the 1010 draws less power from the computer 
supply than the 66.  The 1010 (not the 1010LT) has all the analog 
electronics and codecs in a separate (1 rack unit) box that has it's own 
rather hefty power supply.   

The 66 and the 1010LT, have the codecs and analog electronics on the PCI 
card and a breakout box that has the balanced audio line drivers and 
receivers that is also powered from the PCI card -- there is no external 
supply.  The PCI card for the 1010 has fewer ICs on it than the 66.  By 
moving the codecs and analog circuitry off the PCI card, they gain an 
extra 10dB of S/N ratio.

Good experiment, I have a 200W supply I can try out.  (Much easier than 
negotiating with my 5-year-old for time on his Windows XP machine. :)
