[PlanetCCRMA] Problem with jack

I think I'm starting (hopefully) to zero in on my problem(s).

>From the output of dmesg, I can see that there are problems with my setup booting either kernel (2.6.24.4-64.fc8 or 2.6.24.3-1.rt1.2.fc8.ccrmart), so I don't think the problem is related to RT.

When my system boots, it loads the echoaudio layla24 sound card fine:

Card registered: Layla24 rev.0 (DSP56361) at 0xfdd00000 irq 25

Then it does some stuff with NET, ACPI, and bluetooth, and then a string of messages from ALSA, starting with 'pcm_analog_out_open' and ending with 'pcm_close' for the echoaudio layla24 card.

Following that, there's a block of messages from avahi-daemon (can I disable this?), acpid, pcsd, and gconfd (gconfd pops up all over the place telling me it has 'Resolved address "xml:readwrite:/home/len/.gconf" to a writeable configuration source at position 0. The message is repeated for .gconf.xml.mandatory, and .gconf.xml.defaults.)

Then I get this (with either kernel):

pulseaudio[3076]: polkit.c: Failed to show grant dialog: Unable to lookup exe for caller
pulseaudio[3076]: polkit.c: PolicyKit responded with 'auth_admin_keep_always'
pulseaudio[3076]: main.c: Called SUID root and real-time/high-priority scheduling was requested in the configuration. However, we lack the necessary priviliges:
pulseaudio[3076]: main.c: We are not in group 'pulse-rt' and PolicyKit refuse to grant us priviliges. Dropping SUID again.
pulseaudio[3076]: main.c: For enabling real-time scheduling please acquire the appropriate PolicyKit priviliges, or become a member of 'pulse-rt', or increase the RLIMIT_NICE/RLIMIT_RTPRIO resource limits for this user.
pulseaudio[3076]: main.c: setrlimit(RLIMIT_NICE, (31, 31)) failed: Operation not permitted

More ALSA messages after that, starting with 'pcm_analog_out_open' and interspersed with:

pulseaudio[3076]: alsa-util.c: Cannot find fallback mixer control "Mic".
hcid[2352]: Default passkey agent (:1.19, /org/bluez/passkey) registered
hcid[2352]: Default authorization agent (:1.19, /org/bluez/auth) registered
gconfd (len-3068): Resolved address "xml:readwrite:/home/len/.gconf" to a writable configuration source at position 0

Then many repeating blocks of

kernel: ALSA sound/pci/echoaudio/echoaudio.c:745: pcm_trigger stop
kernel: ALSA sound/pci/echoaudio/echoaudio_dsp.c:846: stop_transport 10001
kernel: ALSA sound/pci/echoaudio/echoaudio.c:668: Prepare rate=44100 format=10 channels=8
kernel: ALSA sound/pci/echoaudio/echoaudio_dsp.c:780: set_audio_format[0] = 88
kernel: ALSA sound/pci/echoaudio/echoaudio.c:668: Prepare rate=44100 format=10 channels=8
kernel: ALSA sound/pci/echoaudio/echoaudio_dsp.c:780: set_audio_format[16] = 88
kernel: ALSA sound/pci/echoaudio/echoaudio.c:723: pcm_trigger start
kernel: ALSA sound/pci/echoaudio/echoaudio_dsp.c:793: start_transport 10001
kernel: ALSA sound/pci/echoaudio/echoaudio.c:1839: rawmidi_iread=1
kernel:last message repeated 2552 times

Interspersed with this (ata2 is my internal CD-R/W):

kernel: ata2.00: qc timeout (cmd 0xa0)
kernel: ata2.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x2 frozen
kernel: ata2.00: cmd a0/00:00:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 tag 0

kernel: ata2: soft resetting link
kernel: ata2.00: configured for UDMA/33
kernel: ata2: EH complete

kernel: ata2.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x2 frozen
kernel: ata2.00: cmd a0/00:00:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 tag 0

kernel: res 40/00:03:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 Emask 0x4 (timeout)
kernel: ata2.00: status: { DRDY }
kernel: ata2: soft resetting link
kernel: ata2.00: configured for UDMA/25
kernel: ata2: EH complete

Obviously, I need to get pulseaudio out of the way, yes? I'll try to find where to disable it, but would of course welcome any input.
Any ideas regarding the ata2 exception would be appreciated as well.

Thanks,
Len
