If your just working audio I would get a motherboard with video output on the
board.
I believe that these will always work with any Linux, and it will save you
some $ for 
more audio gear.

If you want accelerated 3D graphics, I have had a better experience with
Nvidia than 
ATI.  The first part of the graphics card setup is with the X-server, you
may need to 
work on the configuration to get either card working like you want.  The
second part is 
installing the proprietary drivers from Livna and updating the X-server
configuration.

Your PC config is about 10X what I use successfully with Fedora 8 and CCRMA.
