I disabled IPv6 for my device in system-config-network, and now I
don't have this problem anymore. The ipv6 line is still in /etc/hosts
but my DSSI plugins work.

You can also modify NetworkManager configuration by hand at

devices/ifcfg-ethX
profiles/default/ifcfg-ethX

where X is your device number.

Strange.  I've run system-config-network (and looked at /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0  and profiles/default/ifcfg-eth0) -- and ipv6 is not enabled (IPV6INIT=no).  Still, on each reboot, NetworkManager adds the following line to /etc/hosts:

::1     <hostname>   localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6

(where <hostname> is my machine name).

In ifcfg-eth0 (and elsewhere, as above) NM_CONTROLLED=yes.  So it seems NetworkManager is getting the configuration from somewhere to modify the settings.  I just can't figure out where.
