[PlanetCCRMA] Kernel 2.4.20-4.ll.acpi(smp) panic!

Hi there again,

Regarding this kernel panic issue (at least I'm concerned), I've managed to
rebuild the kernel and respective modules from patched stock, and with
CCRMA's linux-2.4.20-4.ll.acpi/configs/kernel-2.4.20-i686-smp.config, and
the boot panic was quite the same: kernel BUG at sched.c:577!

Then, I've taken my sandbox path, which succeeded very well. That means a
complete kernel/alsa-driver custom build, which is named 2.4.20-3a here
therefore. I'll try to be somewhat mode verbose, as follows:

Summary of linux-2.4.20-3a build
-------------------------------
(as similar as I took on my SuSE sandbox, some time before)

Assuming in (my custom) tree:

    /usr/src/configs <-- kernel config files.
    /usr/src/source/kernel <-- kernel stock archives.
    /usr/src/source/patch <-- kernel patches.
/usr/src/alsa <-- ALSA source tarball base.

# cd /usr/src
# cp /mnt/suse/usr/src/configs/config-2.4.20-3
configs/kernel-2.4.20-3a.config
# tar -jxvf source/kernel/linux-2.4.20.tar.bz2
# mv linux-2.4.20 linux-2.4.20-3a
# ln -s linux-2.4.20-3a linux
# cd linux
# patch -p1 < ../source/patch/2.4.20-low-latency.patch
# patch -p1 < ../source/patch/preempt-kernel-rml-2.4.20-1.patch
# make mrproper
# make menuconfig
--> Load an Alternate Configuration File: ../configs/kernel-2.4.20-3a.config
# vi Makefile (EXTRAVERSION = -3a)
# make dep
# make clean
# make bzImage
# make modules
# make modules_install
# make install
--> (some grubby fatal erors, but who cares? i'm using good ol'lilo)
--> (configured lilo and mbr accordingly and reboot.. nicely)
# cd /usr/src/alsa
# tar -jxvf alsa-driver-0.9.2.tar.bz2
# cd alsa-driver-0.9.2
# ./configure --with-isapnp=no --with-cards=emu10k1,virmidi
--with-sequencer=yes
# make install
--> (reboot and back in biz!)

The config file envolved (kernel-2.4.20-3a.config), which is a very custom
one, may be of great value to hint this issue further. I can surely post it
here if someone is interested.

Hope this gives some light,
