Hi Joe,
   Sorry for the problems.

   Any chance it's a cable gone bad? Possibly the grounding in the
cable back to the PC is at fault?

   Maybe something bad hooked to one of the inputs on the breakout
box? Have you disconnected all inputs, and really everything except
your speaker path?

   Dual boot to Windows and check there?
