I already have both of these:
rpm -q sbcl gives --- sbcl-1.0.17-3.fc8
rpm -q slime-sbcl gives --- slime-sbcl-2.0.12.fc8.ccrma

Did all that then ran 'yum update'
The error is :
'Package sbcl.i386 0:1.0.22-1.fc8 set to be updated' . . . etc.
It looks like there is an update to sbcl but the slime-sbcl we have
still requires sbcl-1.0.17
I guess it's just a case of waiting 'til things synchronise.
Sorry - I should have run yum from the command line - as you asked - to
start with.
